Snetterton BSB: Shortened wheelbase boosts Westmoreland

Motorpoint Yamaha's James Westmoreland shortened his bike in an effort to make it turn quicker for the first two British Superbike practice sessions at Snetterton today and bagged second and fifth places with the revised setup.

The folically-challenged Yorkshireman was runner up to John Hopkins this morning and then found an extra half-second this afternoon while everyone else also upped their game at the new circuit.

"We haven't done much to the bike but I shortened it a bit in order to get it to turn quicker. It's rock steady anyway, so we haven't lost any stability but it's a big bike so I needed it a bit faster steering," said Westmoreland, speaking to bikesportnews.com at Snetterton today.

"It's been fast all year but we've made a few poor choices with tyres in mixed conditions. I'm looking forward to having a fully-dry weekend aso we can show the pace we have got."
