SNETTERTON BSB: WALKER ENJOYING THE BRITISH LIFE

Rob Mac Racing’s Chris Walker is enjoying being back in the British paddock with Rob Mac and developing a new bike as they continued with the challenge of the Visk British Superbike Championship at Snetterton this weekend.
In what has been a varied season Walker currently sits tenth in the championship standings, he has finished inside the top ten in five of the ten races so far this season which included a third place podium at Donington.
The Newark rider qualified eighth on the second row, a solid position to get one of his ‘Stalker starts’ as he put it.  In race one he successfully took sixth place, but due to error in the second he finished outside of the points ending the weekend with a disappointment.
“I feel bad for the team as I made a mistake and ran too close to Josh Brookes who braked a bit harder than I expected and left me no option but to take to the grass. Up until then the weekend had been strong, the guy's worked great and the bike definitely is feeling like mine.”
“It was mega fun in the first race really scrapping with the front bunch, our bike was a little bit down on top speed so we were all using our front grip up trying to hang on, it would have been great to mix it up in the second race and give my team a good pay back for their hard work.”
Developing the new bike is undoubtedly challenging, progress has been made on the chassis, linkage and geometry mainly in addition to getting the balance of the engine with regards to deliverance of power, which Walker is now happy with.
“I am really enjoying it, loving it and being back with Rob Mac is great, he gave me my first big chance.  It is a great new bike, its challenging and we do not have the biggest budget, but we are all working hard,” Walker told www.bikesportnews.com whilst talking about his season.
“It’s been up and down, it was mega to get a podium and be up there with [Stuart] Easton and [James] Ellison who are good mates.  I aim to get consistent top sixes, then progress from there.”
When asked if he is missing the World racing scene he said: “I am really enjoying watching it from a far, I wouldn’t be able to do that if I was there.  It did by far give me some great memories and at least I won one, which not all could say.  But I still love the British tracks, fans and it feels really special to be back.”
