Airwaves Yamaha's Leon Camier had taken the double win at Thruxton this afternoon, doing a disappearing act in the second British Superbike race and crossing the line in front of team-mate James Ellison in a carbon copy of race one.
But HM Plant Honda's Josh Brookes, who has finally found some form after last weekend's controversy, ran the Kendal man very close for the second podium spot, lapping almost a second quicker than Ellison for the final third of the race to finish just a tenth in arrears.
Ellison once again grabbed the advantage away from the line, beating his team-mate into Allard, as MSS Colchester Kawasaki's Simon Andrews went under Hydrex Honda's Stuart Easton for third.
Camier wasted no time going past Ellison, lapping six-tenths quicker than the rest of the field and then put the fastest lap of the race in on lap two with a 1'14.933, stretching his lead on lap three to 1.1s.
Andrews, who is once again riding without his Marelli electronics, managed to keep Easton behind him until lap seven when the Scot slipped underneath the Evesham man into the chicane. A lap later the luckless Chris Walker retired as he did in the first race.
Brookes began his charge towards the front on lap nine, going past Michael Rutter, Glen Richards and Andrews on the run down to the final chicane in successive laps, and was lapping faster than Camier.
Richards struggled with his rear tyre in race one and looked to be suffering the same problem as he weht backwards, Karl Harris going past on lap 14 just before Atushi Watanabe went down at the chicane, digging his engine case into the kerb.
Easton eventually finished in fourth with Rutter just grabbing fifth in front of Andrews. Richards slipped to seventh with Ian Lowry, Harris and Julien Da Costa rounding out the top ten.
