Airwaves Yamaha's Leon Camier has obliterated the British Superbike field at Thruxton this morning, going a second faster than anyone else in the third free practice, lapping at 1'14.768.
And until there was only five minutes of the session left, Camier's advantage was 1.4s but a hot lap by Hydrex Honda's Karl Harris at the very end of the session reigned the gap back to 1.028s, while the rest of the chasing pack are still in the 1'16s bracket.
Camier set a 1'15.761 on only his third lap out, which would have put him third and then a run of laps culminated in his fastest time, which was set with 35 minutes the session remaining.
HM Plant Honda's Josh Brookes set his best of 1'16.151 at the same time as Camier's first quickest time and it was good enough for second until Harris deposed him on the half hour. Team-mate Glen Richards rounds out a theoretical front row, 1.495s off the pace.
A fast-learning Ian Lowry heads row two with countryman John Laverty next along. Michael Rutter continues to impress on the Worx Suzuki and Simon Andrews, who is clearly still struggling with the electronics on his MSS Kawasaki, is eighth.
