THRUXTON BSB: CAMIER TAKES FIFTH SEASON WIN

Airwaves Yamaha's Leon Camier took his fifth British Supebrike win of the season in race one at Thruxton this afternoon, leading team-mate James Ellison over the line by a little over a second.

Hydrex Honda's Stuart Easton crossed the line in third after having a relatively lonely time while MSS Kawasaki's Simon Andrews got the better of Glen Richards after a titantic scrap for fourth place.

Ellison got away from the line first as Camier slipped backwards into third. Easton was second and Andrews got a rocket start from 10th on the grid to hop into fourth place but was relegated into fifth by Richards by the end of lap one.

It took two laps for Camier to get past Easton and then the Kent youngster got past his team-mate a lap later to take the lead and then put in consistent laps to pull away.

The big battle was between Andrews and Richards for fourth place after Karl Harris briefly put in an appearance between the two and was also joined by Ian Lowry at the halfway point.

The pace was too much however, as Richards and Andrews pulled away to make the battle their own. The Australian had pulled a lap on Andrews as he fought off Harris's attentions but the Evesham man was quickly back on the HM Plant Honda's rear tyre.

With two laps to go, Andrews tried a incredibly brave move and managed to get around the outside of Richards at Church, only to be passed back on the brakes into the chicane.

Andrews finally made a move stick on the entrance to Campbell and went away as the Worx Suzuki of Michael Rutter slowly crept up on the back of Richards, going past into the chicane. Harris faded into 11th place with rear grip problems.
Quay Garage Honda's Gary Mason, who put his Superbike Cup bike on the front row yesterday, eventually finished in ninth.
