Worx Suzuki's Michael Rutter reckons he could have ridden better during the two British Superbike races this weekend despite netting a pair of fifth places on a bike he had never seen before.
Rutter sensationally split with his NW200 Yamaha team right after the squad's home race in Ireland, saying he just could not get on with the new, long-bang R1, but the 2009 GSX-R1000 seemed to suit on Sunday.
"What a wonderful bike! As a first experience of the GSX-R I'm really impressed. Looking at the day, I could definitely have done with more time to refine the set-up," said the Midlander.
"The setup in warm-up didn't work quite as we hoped so we rode with what we had in qualifying, which wasn't quite perfect. I could have ridden better too - smoother would have been faster - but I have to be happy for I know I can improve. It's been a great weekend in so many ways."
It is not known whether Rutter will remain on the bike for the rest of the season. Team boss Jack Valentine is thought to be in discussion with several riders to replace Sylvain Guintoli for remaining rounds.
