Tyco Suzuki rookie PJ Jacobsen showed the rest of the MCE British Superbike pack that he is one to watch in the championship this year, after coming second fastest in the final free practice session of the day at Thruxton this afternoon.
The American overtook team-mate Josh Brookes to clinch second spot in free practice in the final minutes of the session, and the youngster surprised himself with the progress he has made.
"It was really good, and I was really happy with how the session went, and I didn't think I would be that high up in the charts, it is really grippy here, but the track is really enjoyable. The tracks got drier as the day went on, and I am still learning the track," said Jacobsen, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the circuit.
"I don't think that this is the fastest time I can do on the circuit yet, as I have a lot to learn out on the track and hopefully I can get more out of it."
It was Jacobsen's first time out on the Thruxton circuit today, and the rookie is confident that he can go even faster in qualifying tomorrow.
"The track is absolutely awesome, it is kind of like a 125 grand prix track. It is really fast flowing, but it is a bit bumpy and you have to be strong on the Superbike, that's for sure. But the track is fantastic.
"We have another free practice three tomorrow, so I am looking forward to getting some good dry track times. The more track time we get, the faster we can go and get a good set up for the race on Sunday if it is dry."
