SMT/Rocket Centre’s Adam Jenkinson returns to Thruxton circuit this weekend racing in the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship after having his 2008 season cut short following an accident at the same circuit last year.
The Manchester rider fractured both his wrists, a year on his right wrist is now strong with a decent amount of flexability. However his left wrist had to be fused limiting his range, but he has already seen an improvement the more he uses it.
This isn’t holding him back as Jenkinson currently sits eight in the championship following one DNF and two top ten finishes. In the first qualifying session on Saturday, he proved that he has no demons to deal at the Andover circuit by qualifying fourth, 0.4s off pole.
Jenkinson rides for the same team as last season, but instead of the Superbike category he has had to move to Superstock. He said: “I never left the team, but the team couldn’t sell me to the sponsors, there was a big question over me. Superstock is not easy by no means, but hopefully I will turn things around and my aim is to get back to Super bikes.”
“I was not able to ride until March. It has been a case of me getting back into it. I am hoping for podiums and if I could get one this weekend I will be made up.”
