Sabre Sport’s Luke Mossey held off his main challengers to take the win in today's carnage-filled Metzeler National Superstock 600 race, ahead of Jamie Hamilton of Gearlink Kawasaki and MAP Raceways Yamaha’s Luke Jones.
As soon as throttles were turned it was crash mayhem following a coming together between two riders on the starting grid, forcing one of them to hit the deck. The bike plummeted down the road into the direct line of others causing at least another three riders to crash, who luckily were not seriously hurt.
Meanwhile the rider continued to spin and roll along as the rest of the riders moved forward amazingly avoiding him. Immediately after the safety car returned to the pits on lap four the race was able to commence with Jones, Hamilton and Mossey leading the way.
Unfortunately only a couple of corners later the safety car was yet again out on track due to a further two riders crashing at Segrave, again not seriously hurt. It wasn’t until lap six that the race actually began and got into flow.
The race win was anybody’s guess with the leading trio pushing each other, taking advantage of each other mistakes to get that extra place, but it was Mossey that settled it once and for all.
The final front row starter James East of East Racing couldn’t make a success of his position due to being one of the shocking total of twelve riders who did not finish the race.
In amongst the mayhem it was a successful race for Daniel Kneen of Marks Bloom Racing who finished fifth after qualifying 18th. Championship leader Patrick McDougall of Beowulf Racing holds on to the top spot with a mere two points after finishing sixth from 14th.
