THRUXTON BSB: SEELEY TAKES WIN IN FRANTIC BATTLE

Relentless Suzuki by TAS rider Alastair Seeley again stands on the top step of the podium for the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 at Thruxton following a wheel to wheel race battle.
Starting from second on the grid Seeley took the lead into the first corner followed by Padgetts Motorcycles rider Steve Brogan and pole position man SMT/Rocket Centre Adam Jenkinson.
From lap one Seeley and Brogan were joined fairing to fairing as they pushed each other to the limit, taking it in turns to lead the race.  The most popular move between Seeley and Brogan would take place at the chicane, but it was on the final lap that Seeley took to the front for the last time and it was a drag race to the finish line, Brogan missing out by a mere 0.085s.
The leading group of three was rounded off with Jenkinson who claimed third at the start of the race which he held until the chequered flag.  Only once did Howie Mainwaring of Jx Fuelcards Kawasaki temporarily take ownership of third place before Jenkinson moved back ahead to take third, getting a podium at the same track that he seriously crashed at last year.
Starting in fourth was another group of four riders which was led by Richard Cooper of Team Co-Ordit followed by James Hillier of Buildbase Bournemouth Kawasaki, Scott Smart of Moto Rapdio Ducati and Luke Quigley of Astro Racing Honda.
Hillier and Smart got ahead and were the two main riders to battle for fourth place, with Smart holding off Hillier until he low slided on lap eight, crashing out at Cobb.  He was unable to rejoin, giving fourth to Hillier.
On lap three Cooper lost two places, putting him sixth, even though he regained places throughout the race he then fell down the order slightly to then be overtaken by Quigley.
In the meantime Sam Warren of GR Motorsport/Midland Skip Hire moved in front of them both before the chequered flag putting him in sixth, with Cooper taking seventh due to an error made by Quigley on the last lap.
