Milwaukee Yamaha's James Ellison looks set to unleash the beast at this weekend's Silverstone MCE British Superbike round in an attempt to get into a serious, title-winning position for the season finale in two weeks' time.
The Kendal man, by his own admission, took a cautious approach in the run up to the Showdown but now he sits in third place and 21 points behind leader Shane Byrne with five races and 125 points up for grabs.
"It’s not like I am going to go out there and ride raggedly but there have been a few times this year from mid-season onwards, we have had up and down results. Whether it be a technical problem with the bike or a crash from me and then a podium in the next race," said Ellison, speaking to bikesportnews.com.
"Potentially we could have doubled the points each weekend because we have always - apart from Knockhill - in the top four every race weekend but that doesn't get shown in the points. There were a couple of times, the first Brands Hatch for example, where I was battling for the lead and just backed out of it.
"It has held me back a little. Having a technical problem or a crash in the first race meant I wanted a result in the second one. I didn't want to run the risk of coming away with two non-finishes but it is now time for the aggressive passes."
