Westmoreland leads WFR Honda trio into Spain test programme

WFR Honda's James Westmoreland has been on track with team-mates Graeme Gowland and Alex Lowes at Cartagena for the past two days, getting in laps on their 2012 Honda Fireblades at Cartagena to try and get a jump on the British Superbike competition.

Despite a thunderstorm at the circuit yesterday, the trio have made progress with the bike's air-bleed system which uses stepper motors to control engine braking and all are pleased with the progress.

"It was a shorter day today because of the conditions but we did 35 laps and despite the time made lots of progress with the air bleed system and the clutch. I think today when we did get out on track we were able to make the WFR Honda the best it has been in terms of settings since we started riding and I am feeling confident. We now have one more day here at Cartagena but despite the rain earlier it has been a good day," said Westmoreland.

"It definitely felt nice to be back out on the WFR Honda again and it wasn't a bad start. It took a couple of sessions to get rid of the rust from a few months off but then we really got our heads down and started working through the programme that we had planned over the winter. We started working on the air bleed system and some minor changes but I am looking forward to getting back out again over the next two days."
