Jack Mahaffy, the reigning Australian Supersport Champion, has been picked up by a BSB Supersport team for the 2026 season.
Mahaffy will move over to the BSB paddock this year with the Astro-JJR Hippo Suzuki team, piloting its GSX-R750 – a bike which, of course, was champion last year in the hands of Rhys Irwin with the Gearlink Bike Performance 15 team.
The Australian joins Mikey Hardie who was announced at the beginning of February.
“I am beyond excited to start my British Superbike journey with ASTRO-JJR HIPPO Racing onboard the Suzuki,”said Mahaffy.
“A huge thanks to Stuart [Tomans, team owner] and the whole team for backing me on this next chapter. It’s time to cross the pond and show what I am made of.”
Team Owner Stuart Tromans added: “As a team we are looking forward to a new chapter with Jack [Mahaffy] and Mikey [Hardie].
“It has been a hard search for the right balance of experience, drive and determination and again as a team we looked to the Southern Hemisphere for our lead rider.
“Jack has the skills and the right attitude to do very well in the BSB paddock, this and our experience in getting the best out of the Aussie and Kiwi riders means we are looking forward to a great season.
“Testing begins in Spain at the Calafat circuit shortly where Mikey and Jack will be introduced to the bikes and the team and we can’t wait to get started.”
The 2026 BSB season is due to start on 2–4 May at Oulton Park. Official preseason testing begins on 3–5 April at Donington Park.
