Jack Kennedy’s bid for a fifth British Supersport title got underway in Spain earlier this week, but his preparations also considered more long-term objectives.

Kennedy returns to the British Supersport class this season after a year in the British Superbike Championship with Mar-Train Yamaha. His preparations began with a test at the Circuit Andalucia in southern Spain, alongside the rest of the Honda Racing UK team.

Since Kennedy announced his signing for Honda last year, he has been clear that a part of his decision to race for them in the British Supersport Championship class 2024 is that the team has an open path for him to return to the Superbike class with them in the future, should he perform. As such, his time in Andalucia this week had him on both the CBR600RR and the Fireblade, preparing for both this season and what he hopes will be a return to the Superbike class in the future.

“Overall the test has been faultless,” Kennedy said, “everything has gone as planned and we’ve been lucky with the weather as it has been quite windy recently. I feel like I’ve bonded with the team and my crew aIready and the transition into the team has been seamless. I’m blown away by the infrastructure, professionalism and organisation. I’ve had HRC engineers listen to my feedback which really reinforces the respect and connection that this team has.

“I’m really happy with the bike and the feeling that I have, truthfully I wasn't sure how long I would need to get back up to speed, but I feel that we are there already. I feel entirely reassured that my decision to join this team was the right one.”
