Dan Linfoot took his second Pirelli National Superstock Championship win of the weekend at Oulton Park on Sunday afternoon, edging out Alastair Seeley (Synetiq BMW) in a photo-finish to extend his lead over third-placed Richard Kerr (AMD Motorsport Honda) to 35 points.

Seeley led into the first corner from Linfoot, Ashley Beech (Jones Dorling Racing Honda), Kerr and Joe Talbot (JR Performance Racing Honda) with Kerr taking over third halfway round the lap to tuck in behind championship rival Linfoot. The top three remained the same at the conclusion of the first lap with Talbot, Beech and Lewis Rollo (IN Competition Aprilia) rounding out the top six.

The same six riders from Saturday’s race were again doing battle at the head of the field and Linfoot hit the front for the first time on the third lap when he dived up the inside of Seeley at Shell Oils Corner. The front pack of seven, which now included Alex Olsen (Cumins by Team IWR Honda) and Ben Luxton (Ben Luxton Racing Honda) after Beech made a mistake at Hizzy’s, were still close though with just 1.8s covering them.

Back at the front and Linfoot continued to lead from Seeley and Kerr, the front two holding a near second advantage over the Irishman, and on the seventh lap, BMW’s Seeley went back into the lead as he looked to claim his second win of the season.

The race looked to be between Seeley and Linfoot with Kerr seemingly unable to close the gap and with two laps to go there was only 0.295s between the leading two riders, Linfoot briefly nosing ahead of Seeley at Druids before the ex-champion reclaimed the lead.

The former BSB riders duked it out until the end, but Linfoot led going into the final lap only for Seeley to go back to the front at Old Hall and their battling allowed Kerr to close in. However, it was Linfoot and Seeley who ultimately contested the win and, crossing the line side by side, Linfoot got the verdict by 0.027s to extend his championship lead to 35 points.

Luxton came through for a season’s best fourth ahead of Rollo and Olsen with Billy McConnell, Talbot, Luke Hedger and Beech completing the top ten.
