2026 MotoGP French Grand Prix Results, Sunday: Race

Gold and Goose

Results from the MotoGP French Grand Prix, the fifth round of the 2026 season.

Jorge Martin took victory in the French Grand Prix despite dropping back early on in a battle with Fabio Di Giannantonio.

Martin had won the Sprint on Saturday after going from eighth to first in the first three corners of the race, but he was seventh after the start on Sunday. From there he methodically picked his way through the field, only encountering resistance from Di Giannantonio.

The battle between them meant Martin was 2.5 seconds off the lead by the time he secured fourth position ahead of Di Giannantonio, but his pace was far superior to the rest of the field, as much as 0.5 seconds quicker per lap than race leader Marco Bezzecchi as he closed in.

When Martin arrived on the tail of third-placed Pedro Acosta, things were made marginally easier for him when Francesco Bagnaia crashed out of second. Martin then passed Acosta and set about Bezzecchi, who was 1.5 seconds ahead.

Martin's pace meant he caught Bezzecchi within four laps, and on lap 25 he was able to execute his favourite pass on the inside of turn three.

From there, Martin checked out, immediately opening a lead of 0.6 seconds over Bezzecchi, who then had Ai Ogura to worry about.

Martin's final winning margin was just under half-a-second, but it secured him his first win with Aprilia.

Bezzecchi held onto second and the points lead with it, he leads Martin by a point heading to Barcelona next week.

Ai Ogura's race was much like Martin's, charging through the top-10 to get to the podium, but Ogura's pace wasn't quite as excellent as Martin's and his charge started both further back in the pack and later on in the race. One more lap and he might have gotten to Bezzecchi, but the race was 27 laps. Third marked his first podium in the premier class.

Fabio Di Giannantonio took fourth off Pedro Acosta on the last lap, Acosta taking fifth. 4.7 seconds further back was Fabio Quartararo in a remarkable sixth place on the Yamaha.

Enea Bastianini, Raul Fernandez, Fermin Aldeguer, and Luca Marini completed the top-10.

Jorge Martin topped MotoGP Warm Up in France ahead of Alex Marquez and Raul Fernandez.

It was a session that was mostly used for practicing flag-to-flag bike swaps with rain forecast for this afternoon, so some riders - most notably Francesco Bagnaia - were out of position compared to what you'd expect.
