2026 MotoGP Thai Grand Prix Results, Sunday: Race

Gold and Goose

Results from the 2026 MotoGP Thai Grand Prix from the Buriram International Circuit.

Marco Bezzecchi took victory in the Thai MotoGP race, bouncing back from his crash from the lead in the Sprint.

Where he was under pressure from Marc Marquez in the Sprint, Bezzecchi was unchallenged on his run to victory in the grand prix, winning by 5.543 seconds in the end over Pedro Acosta in a lights-to-flag victory that extends his - and Aprilia's - Sunday winning run to three.

Behind, the battle for second seemed initially to be won by Raul Fernandez, who was over two seconds clear of the third-place fight in the middle of the race. But the Spaniard faded at the end and ended up dropping behind Pedro Acosta to finish third.

Acosta's second place came not only after a late pass on the fading Fernandez, but also after an early battle with Jorge Martin and Marc Marquez.

Acosta's start left him sixth on the opening lap, but he quickly cut his way through to the battle for third, which by then had been vacated by Fernandez who had left Marc Marquez and Jorge Martin to battle over the bottom step of the podium.

Martin took the early initiative over Marquez, and Acosta wasn't too far behind. The two of them dropped Marquez somewhat after a few laps, but then Martin began to fade, dropping into the clutches of Acosta towards the end of the first 10 laps.

Acosta tried to pass at turn 12, where he had been so strong versus Marquez on Saturday, but Martin squared him off and beat him to turn one. Acosta then out-braked Martin into turn three, but Martin was able to cut underneath his compatriot in the middle of the corner and they exited side-by-side. Marquez was able to take advantage of this, and passed the pair of them on the run to turn four; now Marquez was third ahead of Acosta and Martin.

Martin quickly dropped off the back of the battle after this, while Acosta soon found his way back by Marquez at turn eight, and set on after Fernandez.

As Acosta caught Fernandez, with Marquez in-tow, the Ducati rider ran wide at turn four and retired with a puncture. TV images showed Marquez's wheel rim was damaged.

Later on, Joan Mir would also retire from sixth place with a tyre problem, although he got his Honda back to the pits. Marco Bezzecchi also had a clear dark line around the centre of his rear tyre at the end of the race.

Marquez's retirement saved a podium for Raul Fernandez, whose third place puts him second in the standings after the first round, behind only Acosta.

Jorge Martin finished fourth, three seconds adrift of Fernandez and 12 seconds behind Bezzecchi, and just ahead of Ai Ogura who charged late on to get into the top-five.

Fabio Di Giannantonio was the last of Ogura's victims, and also the first Ducati across the line in sixth. This was the first race since Silverstone 2021 that Ducati did not have a bike on the podium.

Behind Di Giannantonio, Brad Binder was seventh on the second KTM, just ahead of Franco Morbidelli who passed Francesco Bagnaia for eighth at the final corner. Bagnaia took ninth, and Luca Marini rounded out the top-10.

Alex Marquez was the only rider to crash out of the race, doing so a lap after his brother retired with the puncture, the Gresini rider going down at the same turn that Marc Marquez's rear tyre deflation became apparent.

Raul Fernandez was fastest in Warm Up, meaning Aprilia has been top in every session bar the only one so far that pays points so far this weekend, the Sprint. Fernandez did it despite appearing to be in some discomfort with his left shoulder, the cause for which is unclear.

Fabio Di Giannantonio was second-fastest ahead of Marc Marquez, while Alex Marquez and Ai Ogura were the last riders to lap in the 1:29s.

Pole sitter Marco Bezzecchi was sixth in Warm Up, while Luca Marini, Francesco Bagnaia, Pedro Acosta, and Joan Mir completed the top-10.
