In a crash with Pedro Acosta at the TT Circuit Assen, Alex Marquez fractured his hand and will undergo surgery.
It has been revealed that Alex Marquez broke his hand in a crash during the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix and is set for surgery this evening in Spain.
Marquez was battling for victory in the early stages, but whilst attempting an overtake on Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider Pedro Acosta at Turn Five, the pair rubbed shoulders on exit.
The BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP rider then crashed on the exit, flicking right onto the back straight in what appeared to be a touch of his front brake lever on the rear of Acosta.
He was taken to the medical centre, which revealed he had broken his hand.
After failing to finish the Dutch TT, Alex Marquez had to witness his brother, Marc Marquez, take his sixth Grand Prix victory of the season.
The younger Marquez brother lost 28 points to his older brother throughout the weekend at the TT Circuit Assen.
Alex Marquez is now 68 points behind Marc Marquez in the Championship standings after 10 rounds of the 2025 MotoGP World Championship.
The MotoGP riders will now get a week off before heading to a back-to-back race weekends at the German and Czech Republic Grand Prix in July.
