Jorge Martin had an impressive return from injury at the Czech Republic Grand Prix after being on the sidelines since April.
Aprilia Racing CEO Massimo Rivola has praised Jorge Martin after his seventh place in his MotoGP comeback at the Czech Republic Grand Prix.
The reigning MotoGP World Champion has endured an injury-filled season. Martin missed the entirety of preseason testing and the first three rounds of the season.
At the Qatar Grand Prix, he officially made his MotoGP debut, but a crash in the latter laps of the Grand Prix left him with multiple injuries and saw him return to the hospital.
After a three-month break, Martin was cleared to return to action at the Automotodrom Brno, where he impressed many.
The Spaniard gained direct access to Q2 before qualifying in 12th, and finishing the Sprint Race in 11th place. However, on Sunday, he had his best performance as he held a strong seventh place during the Grand Prix.
It was a positive weekend for Aprilia as a whole, as Marco Bezzecchi finished second, and Raul Fernandez had his best result of the season with a fifth place.
"Not perfect, because it’s perfect when you do P1 and P2," Rivola told MotoGP world feed after the Czech Republic Grand Prix.
"But super happy for Marco, super happy for Jorge, super happy for Raul. I’m super happy for Jorge because we didn’t know anything about his condition really.
"And Marco was just great, super, perfect start. It’s a special comeback. I’m really happy.
"Also you can see the bike is fast, so I think he will have a big motivation in him."
With his first points of the season the the Automotodrom Brno, Martin has launched himself from last in the standings to 21st. However, he is officially out of the running for the 2025 MotoGP World Championship.
