The next phase of Jorge Martin's recovery from a displaced collarbone fracture has been revealed by Aprilia Racing.
After the Indonesian Grand Prix, Aprilia Racing released a statement explaining the next phase of Jorge Martin's recovery after his major injury at the Japanese Grand Prix.
The 2025 MotoGP season has been a nightmare for the 2024 MotoGP World Champion, as he has suffered from four major injuries during his title defence.
He suffered injuries on the opening day of testing at the Sepang MotoGP Test in February, and then picked up further injuries after a training crash, which put him out of the first three rounds of the season.
Martin then fractured ribs on his return to racing at the Qatar Grand Prix, which he did not return from until the Czech Republic Grand Prix, where he scored his first points of the season.
After some promising rounds and a return to full fitness, the Japanese Grand Prix was supposed to be the end of Martin's 'pre-season. However, he ended up putting himself back on the sidelines after a first corner collision with his teammate in the Sprint Race.
The 2024 MotoGP World Champion had surgery on a displaced fracture to his right collarbone, which was deemed a success. It has now been confirmed that Martin will miss the Australian Grand Prix in two weeks, and his return to racing has not been confirmed.
"Jorge tends to be quite fast in the way he thinks," Aprilia CEO Massimo Rivola said.
"But we need to put the handbrake on. I like having riders who are so keen to race, but I think after this year we need to think twice and come back properly."
On Monday morning, a brief statement from the team revealed the next phase of his recovery.
"We just want to inform you that Jorge Martin will spend the next few days at the Red Bull Athlete Performance Center, in Austria, to focus on his recovery."
