Moto2 title favourite, Aron Canet, was 'dealing with pain' during the Thai Grand Prix after a testing crash at Jerez.
For the 2025 Moto2 World Championship, the one name that kept appearing as the potential favourite was Aron Canet.
However, the Spaniard finished runner up in the opening Grand Prix after being beaten by Manuel Gonzalez. But Canet has since revealed that the major crash that he had on the final day of the Jerez Test has impacted him more than he let on.
"It definitely made a difference after the crash in Jerez, I was missing a lot to be able to perform at my best," Canet said after the Thai Grand Prix.
"In the heat, it's a different matter again, dealing with pain, it's a huge challenge for the mind. And that's exactly what it was about for me in Thailand.
"I didn't speak to anyone before the race. I just wanted to get through it."
Canet was unable to battle with Gonzalez on Sunday, but he limited the damage as best as he could. The Fantic Racing Lino Sonego rider will be hoping to be back at full fitness for the Argentine Grand Prix.
"I am happy with today's race," Canet said.
"We showed that we are competitive even on a demanding track like Buriram. We proved that we can fight for the title, but it is important that we remain calm.
"Last year the championship was won by a driver who did not have the most wins, which shows how important it is to always get the maximum number of points without taking too many risks."
