Former British Superbike Champion Leon Camier is assessing an option to join MotoGP with the Ioda team as well as two further opportunities to remain in the World Superbike Championship next season.
The Kent man was left in the lurch by his former Crescent Suzuki team after they decided to hire Eugene Laverty instead of re-signing Camier but it could have been a blessing in disguise.
Ioda are in advanced negotiations with Aprilia to lease a brace of 2014 ART bikes next season and have already signed Danilo Petrucci. Camier is first in line for the second bike but says a few small areas have to be worked out.
"It is the favoured option for me but we need to work out some of the smaller details first. I think it would be beneficial to get into MotoGP and this looks like a perfect way to do it, given the direction in which the rules are heading," said Camier, speaking to bikesportnews.com from Andorra.
"We are still in talks with two World Superbike teams and also have some options in the BSB paddock too so it doesn't look like I will be left with nothing to race in 2014."
