Claudio Domenicali expects to 'see a different Championship from Qatar'

Gold & Goose

Ducati's CEO wants to see Francesco Bagnaia fighting for victories from the Qatar Grand Prix.

According to Ducati's CEO, Claudio Domenicali, we will 'see a different Championship from Qatar' as he expects Francesco Bagnaia to regain his form after a difficult start to the 2025 season.

When Marc Marquez joined the Ducati Lenovo Team it was expected that the two-time MotoGP Champion and the six-time MotoGP Champion would go head-to-head. However, this has not occurred and instead, Bagnaia has had to settle for third place.

Marquez has won the opening two Grands Prix and Sprint Races in Thailand and Argentina. It is expected that he will continue his unbeaten run as MotoGP arrives at his favourite track, the Circuit of the Americas.

But from the Qatar Grand Prix and onwards, Domenicali believes that Bagnaia will be back at the front and winning races.

"I think Pecco started with two races that weren’t the most favourable for him," Domenicali is reported by GPOne as saying at a recent Ducati event.

"He finished the winter tests with some problems that weren’t his fault, so we’re not seeing his true potential yet.

"I’m convinced we’ll see it, starting with the next few races, although, perhaps not in Austin, which is a particularly well-suited circuit for Marc.

"But I think we’ll see a different championship from Qatar."

Bagnaia has had mixed results in Qatar throughout his MotoGP career, the Italian has won two races at the Lusail International Circuit, one in MotoGP and one in Moto2.

He has also featured on the podium on four other occasions in Qatar, three times in MotoGP and once in Moto3. But when it comes to Sprint Races at the Lusail International Circuit he is yet to feature on a Sprint podium at the circuit.
