Work is underway to revive the Argentine Grand Prix in Buenos Aires for future MotoGP seasons.
It seems likely that this year's Argentina Grand Prix will be the final event at Termas de Rio Hondo for the time being.
This season if the final year of Termas de Rio Hondo's contract with Dorna. However, MotoGP is keen to continue racing in Argentina beyond the 2025 season.
According to reports from Speedweek.com MotoGP is pursuing a return to Buenos Aires for the first time since 1999. Work is already underway at the 'Autodromo Oscar y Juan Galvez' in Buenos Aires to obtain a Class Two license from the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA).
Dorna Manager, Carlos Ezpeleta, reportedly visited the 'Autodromo Oscar y Juan Galvez' last Wednesday. The MotoGP Sporting Director was sent to learn more about the facilities' plans to enable them to be homologated for future MotoGP seasons.
Ezpeleta reportedly also met with representatives of the city council and the OSD Group, the national GP organiser.
Speaking to the South American sports magazine Gran Premio, Orlando Terranova, Managing Director of the OSD Group, highlighted the progress of the work that has been done.
"This project represents an important step in the OSD Group's commitment to promoting the development of motorsport in Argentina," said Terranova.
"As we prepare to host a new edition of the Argentine MotoGP event, we continue to work to expand the opportunities for international motorsport events in our country."
