Riders for Health are excited to announce that they are able to release a limited number of extra ride-in tickets for Day of Champions. Riders’ biggest annual fundraiser takes place before the British MotoGP at Donington Park, on Thursday 19th June.
There are only a very limited number of tickets being released, and they are on sale now. This year Riders are giving fans the chance to buy tickets 24 hours a day through their re-launched website www.riders.org. Those that don’t want to buy online can call the Day of Champions ticket-line on 08702 242 960 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Tickets for the ride-in are £50, with a pillion ticket costing £35. For the terms and conditions of the ride-in, please see the Riders for Health website, www.riders.org.
Three-time British Superbike Champion, Niall Mackenzie, has confirmed that he will be leading the ride-in to Donington. This year the ride-in meets at Mallory Park. Participants will compete two laps of the track before heading to the Victoria pub in Coalville, where participants enjoy breakfast before travelling to Donington Park. The ride-in concludes with hundreds of bikers taking to the Donington tarmac for two parade laps of the famous track.
Tickets for the ride-in also include access to the paddock and the pit-lane so ticket holders will be able to see behind the scenes of MotoGP. They will also be able to enjoy all the entertainment on the infield, including the famous Day of Champions auction, where the MotoGP riders will appear on stage and help raise thousands of pounds for Riders’ work in Africa.
The auction is the highlight of every Day of Champions, and this year British star, James Toseland, will be appearing in front of his home fans for the first time as a MotoGP rider. James will be auctioning off a full set of racing gear, including helmet, leathers, gloves and boots, which are certain to be hugely popular. American, Colin Edwards, is also donating a full set of race gear. John Hopkins is donating one of his race helmets, and Loris Capirossi, Marco Melandri and Andrea Dovizioso will all donate a set of leathers. Racing kit isn’t the only thing going under the hammer. There will be signed painting and prints and Chris Vermeulen has donated a signed personal photograph of himself with his late friend and mentor, Barry Sheene.
In an extra special lot, Valentino Rossi has donated two signed ‘46’ t-shirts. Each shirt is completely unique, and so the lucky winning bidder can be safe in the knowledge that they have the only one in the world. Plus, it will also be signed by the seven time world champion himself.
All money raised will directly support the work of Riders for Health – the official charity of MotoGP. Riders trains African health workers in motorcycle riding and maintenance, enabling them to reach remote villages with the kind of regular, reliable health care we take for granted.
More auction items will be confirmed closer to the event, and all the details will be on www.riders.org.
Day of Champions 2007 raised just over £200,000 for the charity, helping Riders to reach over 10 million people in Africa.
