Ducati, Aprilia confirm 2027 MotoGP line-ups as Pedro Acosta replaces Pecco Bagnaia

Gold and Goose

Ducati and Aprilia have confirmed their 2027 rider line-ups for MotoGP, with Marc Marquez getting a new teammate as Francesco Bagnaia moves on.

Marquez will remain in the red of the Ducati Lenovo Team for the third MotoGP season in 2027 thanks to a new two-year contract that will keep him at the Bologna factory until 2028 at least.

“I'm red,” said Marquez. “I'm truly happy with this new agreement with the Ducati Lenovo Team and to continue being part of this family.

“When I decided to join Ducati, I was convinced it was the most competitive project.

“They believed in me, and we built a relationship based on trust and hard work. With this renewal, they have once again reaffirmed this commitment, respecting my times and giving me the peace of mind I needed to make the right decision.

“In our first year together, we fought for the title and won it: a priceless result that confirms that the path we had chosen was the right one.

“I continue to compete because I love this sport and I want to achieve even more ambitious goals. I'm convinced this is the right place to do it. As long as I'm here, I'll give my all to paint the future red.”

Pedro Acosta will step in alongside his compatriot, moving over from KTM, also on a two-year deal as the two-time world champion steps away from the Austrian manufacturer for the first time in his career.

“Pedro [Acosta] is undoubtedly one of the most talented young riders in the MotoGP paddock,” said Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali.

“At just 22-years-old, he is the kind of rider with whom a new and exciting chapter can be written. We have always liked him and have been following him for some time, both for what he has achieved on track and for his direct and easy-going personality, which we are sure will make Ducatisti fall in love with him once he is dressed in red.

“We believe that, alongside Marc [Marquez], he represents the ideal complement for a team that – building on its history and on the results achieved in recent years – wants to continue playing a leading role in the future and remain a source of admiration, respect and support for Ducati fans all around the world.”

Acosta’s spot at Ducati was vacated by Francesco Bagnaia, who will head to Aprilia on a four-year contract to partner Marco Bezzecchi, who was confirmed by the Noale marque back in February.

“Michele Colaninno [Piaggio Group CEO] and I share the same vision of supporting Italy, which is why we both thought of Marco [Bezzecchi] and Pecco [Francesco Bagnaia] together for the next chapter of Aprilia Racing.

“Bagnaia’s arrival is a confirmation of the value of Italian sport, which in recent months has distinguished itself on the world stage thanks to the achievements of Kimi Antonelli in Formula 1, Jannik Sinner in tennis, and Federica Brignone at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.

“That is why welcoming Pecco fills us with pride and gives Italian sport a further boost internationally.

“We will give him and his family a warm welcome, but first we will try to beat him! Having a multiple World Champion is a responsibility we can’t wait to take on.”

Bagnaia's confirmation at Aprilia means Jorge Martin will be leaving the brand. He is expected to be announced as a Yamaha rider for 2027, although this has not yet been confirmed.
