Ducati MotoGP boss Gigi Dall’Igna believes his factory GP16s will retain their top-speed advantage next season even though they will be formally restricted to 22 litres of fuel.
Dall’Igna, whose company will have eight bikes on the grid in 2016, says the current crop of Ducatis have only been using 22 litres per race this year so there will be no change and that they should still be the fastest things out there.
“We are using 22 litres at the moment, so we will still have the same next year, so we don't have to develop the bike in this direction. For sure our competitors can improve a bit the performance of their engines using these two litres of fuel. But frankly speaking, I think that we can still have an advantage in terms of engine performance for next year,” said Dall’Igna, speaking at Valencia today.
“Pramac will use the GP15 bike, so exactly the same bike that the factory riders used this year. Avintia and Aspar will use the GP14.2 bikes, exactly the same bike that Petrucci was using during the final part of the season. So both of them can give to the team good results, so I'm quite confident for that. Petrucci and Redding will have exactly the same bike.”
