Ducati's Nicky Hayden has come out in agreement with teamster Valentino Rossi and called for a smoothing out of the GP12's power delivery in order to get the massive grunt of the new motor on to the tarmac.

Even though the 2006 world champion qualified third for Sunday's MotoGP race at Jerez, he was unable to capitalise as his softer compound tyres turned to chewing gum in a couple of laps and he slid down to eighth place.

"I wouldn't say we have one big problem which makes it even harder because it's not like we can put all of our attention in one area. I feel like we have made an improvement in the front of this chassis but I still lose a lot on the exit as it is hard to finish the corner because the bike either slides or moves," said Hayden, speaking to bikesportnews.com at Jerez.

"We need to smooth out the power delivery too, we need to be able to use our engine. We have a fast engine but after you've dialled in everything to stop it pumping, you're only really fast at the end of the straight. We need to be able to take away some electronics and use the grunt."
