'If you make a mistake it is a disaster' - MotoGP title rivals discuss the remaining Grands Prix

Gold and Goose

Jorge Martin and Francesco Bagnaia discuss their 2024 MotoGP title fight with only four rounds to go.

Four rounds are remaining of the 2024 MotoGP World Championship and the title fight remains between Jorge Martin and Francesco Bagnaia.

Martin enters the Australian Grand Prix as the MotoGP Championship leader. However, the Spaniard only has a lead of ten points over his title rival. Before this weekend's Australian Grand Prix Martin discussed just how costly one single mistake could be in the remaining races.

Martin said: "The most important thing for me is to arrive in Valencia with options, so I will try to get to that point. There are still three races where we can make a lot of mistakes, mistakes are now heavier let's say, if you make a mistake it is a disaster. We need to be really focused and try to always be competitive."

The two-time MotoGP World Champion, Bagnaia, has all the work to do in the final four Grand Prix weekends. The Italian rider insists that the title fight will go to Valencia and he will settle for second place when he needs to.

Bagnaia said: "What we have seen and what we understand is that it is not mandatory to be leading the Championship right now. If it happens, it happens, but in the case of gaining some points or losing some points will not be a problem. Because this will be finished in Valencia, it will be fairly complicated to finish it before.

"We will try to do the maximum, if the maximum is to finish second we will finish second. We know the potential is to win, so we will try everything to win. But we need to gain little points like we did in Indonesia and continue like that in Thailand."
