Marc Marquez has admitted that he is now 'too far' behind Martin and Bagnaia in the 2024 MotoGP title fight.
Going into the Japanese Grand Prix Marc Marquez is 78 points behind Championship leader, Jorge Martin. Even though there are five Grand Prix weekends still to go in 2024 Marquez has accepted defeat.
Before his first Japanese Grand Prix on a Ducati Marquez was asked if he thinks it is now a head-to-head between Francesco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin.
"I think so yeah, it is face-to-face between both of them, they are a bit faster than the others," Marquez told MotoGP.com.
"It looks like after Mandalika me and (Enea) Bastianini, we did not score points, so we lost many points to them there. It is game over.
"Now it is too far, but it will be nice for us because we will try to fight with both of them because they will be really fast in the last five races."
Marquez was then asked what his aims are for the remaining rounds of the 2024 season. The Spanish rider aims to improve on the Ducati before his 2025 season in the Ducati Lenovo Team.
"I will try to finish the season in a good way," Marquez said. "I will try to find more consistency, try to improve my weak points, and see if we can fight for podiums."
Throughout his MotoGP career, the Spaniard has won three races at Motegi on the Repsol Honda. This weekend will be the first time that Marquez has raced at Motegi in MotoGP whilst not on a Honda. It would be a landmark weekend for Marquez if he could win the Japanese Grand Prix with Ducati.
