Aprilia Racing have confirmed that Jorge Martin will miss the Australian Grand Prix after undergoing surgery.
During Friday Practice at the Indonesian Grand Prix, Aprilia Racing confirmed that Jorge Martin will miss the Australian Grand Prix in two weeks.
It was already expected that the 2024 MotoGP World Champion would not compete at Phillip Island after he suffered a displaced fracture to his right collarbone at the Japanese Grand Prix.
However, the Italian manufacturer has now officially confirmed what was expected, and Martin will officially remain sidelined at Phillip Island.
"We are waiting for him, with no pressure at all, and after the big injury the surgery was good," Paolo Bonora told TNT Sports.
"To be honest with you, at Phillip Island there is no chance to see him [Jorge Martin], but for the next ones we can't say more than this."
The earliest that Martin is likely to return from his latest injury is for the Portuguese Grand Prix in November, which is also the penultimate round of the season.
This is the fourth time in the 2025 MotoGP season that Martin has found himself on the sidelines due to injuries. After suffering from fractured ankles and ribs in the first half of the season, Martin believed he was back for good.
However, on the opening lap of the Sprint Race at the Japanese Grand Prix, Martin got too ambitious after starting from the rear of the grid. The factory Aprilia rider tried to make up too much ground at the first corner and lost control of his RS-GP.
Martin ended up crashing at the first corner and collided with his Aprilia Racing teammate, Marco Bezzecchi. Although the Italian was relatively unharmed, Martin had to be transferred to the hospital and underwent surgery the next day.
