A renewal between Luca Marini and Honda Racing Corporation is reportedly ‘under control’.
Luca Marini’s contract with the Honda Racing Corporation expires at the conclusion of the 2025 season.
When the Italian joined the Japanese manufacturer, the Honda RC213V was not a desirable bike, but now multiple rides have been linked with his ride.
Honda were able to win their first Grand Prix since 2023 last time out at the French Grand Prix. It was not Marini who took victory, but rather LCR Honda rider Johann Zarco.
In recent weeks, it has been suggested that two-time World Superbike Champion, Toprak Razgatlioglu could join the factory Honda squad. MotoGP riders Jorge Martin and Pedro Acosta have also been linked with potential moves to the Japanese manufacturer.
However, Marini has insisted that he is working on a deal to remain with Honda for the 2026 MotoGP World Championship.
“Yes. Many. I told you a few races ago that we are talking about a renewal of the contract,” Marini said ahead of the British Grand Prix.
“Everything is under control, I will say. We both want the best for us. Let’s see in the next months or weeks.
“I hope for as soon as possible. But we don’t have a window, like in football.
“That would be good for everybody, but it’s impossible. For everybody, it is the same, so we handle it.
“For sure, it’s not easy to manage. But we learn to do these kinds of things. At the end of your contract, you try to renew it or change, depending upon the situation.
“You would like, as soon as possible, [to be finalised].
“It’s your life, it’s not just the sport. There are many things around. It is a job.
“It can happen, to get distracted. But not on track. We grow up learning many things in our childhood, and one of these is that when you close the visor it’s just about performance on the bike.”
Marini currently sits 13th in the MotoGP World Championship, and has finished every Grand Prix this season in the points, and has four top ten finishes to his name.
