Luca Marini undergoes successful surgery to fix an injury from 2023

Gold & Goose

Honda factory MotoGP rider, Luca Marini, has gone under the knife ahead of the 2025 MotoGP season.

Back in 2023, Luca Marini broke his collarbone at the Indian Grand Prix on the opening lap of the race. At the time Marini was still racing for his half-brother, Valentino Rossi's, MotoGP team on a Ducati.

In the 2023 season, Marini ended the year in eighth place after standing on two MotoGP Grand Prix podiums. But since then the Italian moved from the Italian manufacturer to the factory Honda team to start his own journey away from his family.

During his debut year with Honda in the Repsol Honda Team, the Italian finished 22nd in the standings. Marini only scored 14 points, 187 points less than he scored in the 2023 season with Ducati.

Before his second season with the Repsol Honda squad, Marini went back under the knife. The 27-year-old had the plate removed from his collarbone, which was attached as a quick fix after the Indian Grand Prix.

"Done, feeling better already," Marini said on social media. "Thanks to everybody who supports me. I just removed the plate in my collarbone."

The operation was a success and Marini will be back out on track on the 2025 Honda RC213V at the MotoGP Shakedown test in Malaysia on January 31st.
