Marc Marquez could only manage 12th place in the Spanish Grand Prix after crashing in the early stages of the race.
After dominating the Sprint Race on Saturday, it was expected that Marc Marquez would be victorious on Sunday in the Spanish Grand Prix.
However, the six-time MotoGP World Champion crashed out of third place in the early stages of the race at Turn Eight.
He was able to rejoin and finish in 12th place and was able to celebrate with his brother, who claimed his maiden Grand Prix victory at Circuito de Jerez.
"The problems started at the start, I did not have a good start and I made a mistake there," Marc Marquez told TNT Sports.
"Everything then became more difficult. When I decided to cruise behind the leaders like I did in the first races of the year, I lost the front at Turn Eight. Unfortunately, I missed out on a lot of points there and we need to understand that mistake so I can avoid it in the future."
"No, I was riding in a good way," Marquez said when asked if he had earlier issues before his crash.
"I was taking care at Turn One, Two and Six, which are strong braking points where you normally lose the front. So, I was trying to use the rear tyre, because normally with a new rear tyre I feel worse than with a used one.
"We saw that I was faster in the last part of the race with the used tyre, but the mistake had already happened. So, we need to learn about it and avoid it in the future."
Marquez also stated that he will give his 100% even after crashing, but admitted that he 'needs to work on those sort of mistakes'.
"I am a fighter and it is the minimum I can after a mistake," Marquez stated.
"I just take the bike and I try to give my 100%, it was difficult because the first seven or eight laps after I rejoined, the fairing was touching on the left side. I was not able to be fast with this, but after it touched a lot of times, I was able to ride in a better way.
"I was fast and the speed was there, I just need to work on those sort of mistakes."
