Marc Marquez has refused to weigh in on the Jorge Martin rumours until the reigning Champion speaks about them first.
Ahead of the British Grand Prix, there was a bombshell piece of news dropped on the MotoGP paddock as it was reported that Jorge Martin was searching for a way out of his Aprilia contract.
The reigning Champion reportedly wanted to leave the Italian manufacturer at the end of the 2025 season. Aprilia have since released a statement denying these reports, and has stated that he will stay until the end of his contract in 2026.
However, ahead of this weekend's MotoGP round, Marc Marquez was asked for his opinion on the Martin rumours.
"I want to wait until [Jorge] Martin or his team speak about it," Marquez said in the Press Conference at Silverstone.
"Until they speak, we don't know if it is real or not. It is normal for Aprilia to speak, because they will speak and you [the media] will ask them a lot of things.
"I don't know if it is real or not, so let's see we will wait, because I respect them and I will wait for Martin and his team."
Marquez was then asked about his experience of exiting contracts early, and how it compared to his situation at the end of 2023 when he walked away from Honda.
"I think my situation was completely different," Marquez stated.
"First of all, because I was coming off four years with a lot of injuries. Second thing, what we had achieved as a team, we achieved six World Championships together with Honda. We had an amazing relationship, and even now we have a very good relationship.
"In the end, the amount of budget they were spending on my salary was not necessary. They needed to invest in the project, not a rider who was finishing 10th, 11th or 13th like I was at that time.
"My relationship with them was super special, and it was a mutual agreement."
