'Martin is not going to be free for 2026' - Aprilia respond to Jorge Martin's manager

Gold & Goose

Massimo Rivola has responded to the latest comments made by Jorge Martin's manager, Albert Valera.

Aprilia Racing boss believes that it is 'clear' that Jorge Martin is not free to join a rival manufacturer for the 2026 MotoGP Championship.

The Italian rider has also raised the idea that the contract dispute between the 2024 MotoGP World Champion and the Italian manufacturer could go to court.

Martin joined the Italian factory team at the start of the 2025 season on a two-year deal. However, due to several injury woes, the Spaniard has only competed at a Grand Prix this year.

Rivola has now countered the comments made by Martin's manager, Albert Valera, suggesting that Martin is free from his contract for next season.

"Clearly, he [Martin] is not going to be free for 2026," Aprilia Racing CEO Rivola told TNT Sports on Sunday at the Dutch TT.

"In case we have to go to the court, the judge will take his position.

"But we are quite, let’s say, relaxed about that."

Aprilia expect Martin to return for the Czech Republic Grand Prix:

Martin is expected to undergo a medical check next week, and Rivola confirmed that Martin will have a private test at Misano on the RS-GP.

He also explained that the Italian manufacturer is hoping that their #1 will be back on track at the Czech Republic Grand Prix.

"If he is ready from a medical point of view, we are planning to test him in Misano on [9 July]," Rivola said.

"If he’s okay, we sit down and check when he thinks he [will be] ready to race.

"I think Brno could be a decent target, but first we need to do one step at a time – then we will see.

"Having one race before the [summer] break will be good to mentally, physically start getting a bit of rhythm, and then he knows that he has to push.

"His call to do something quite special, to stay here, then to get results, will be a second step."
