Miguel Oliveira has 'an option' to become Aprilia's MotoGP Test Rider, but he must 'see with BMW first'.
For the 2026 season, Miguel Oliveira has put pen to paper on a deal that will see him move across to the World Superbike paddock with the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team.
His new deal with the German manufacturer was announced ahead of the Indonesian Grand Prix and will see him swap seats with Toprak Razgatlioglu.
However, he did also admit that his time in the MotoGP paddock may not be over as he has 'an option' to become an Aprilia MotoGP Test Rider, but needs to 'see with BMW first'.
"For me that’s an option," Miguel Oliveira said after the Indonesian Grand Prix, about his chances of becoming an Aprilia Test Rider.
"For sure, it would be something to see with BMW first. The priority for sure would be to race, of course, but in terms of how things could actually be done in terms of calendar, and because I would also understand Aprilia want to take full advantage of having me testing their bike and now just jumping on the bike sometimes, in free time.
"So, it’s not easy to come up with the schedule that fits everyone."
Oliveira was asked if BMW allowed him to become a rival's Test Rider, would it show a lack of interest in entering MotoGP?
"Why not?" Oliveira responded.
"That’s not for me to answer, but I think their intentions in motorsport are pretty clear.
"I think MotoGP is such a big budget effort that they need to go ask the marketing department, and I don’t know if they are really into that mode at the moment."
