Jose Antonio Rueda was at the top of the timesheets in the opening Moto3 Free Practice session in Barcelona.
Across the last two Grands Prix, Jose Antonio Rueda has not featured on a Moto3 podium. However, he was back at the sharp end on Friday morning in Barcelona as he topped the opening Practice session.
David Munoz was the closest challenger to the current Moto3 World Championship leader as he ended the session in second place and was 0.188 seconds behind Rueda.
The top Honda rider in the opening Moto3 session of the weekend was the Leopard Racing rider, Adrian Fernandez. The Spaniard started his weekend in third place but was 0.524 seconds behind Rueda.
Ryusei Yamanaka had a difficult time at the Hungarian Grand Prix as he ended up in 14th, but in the opening session in Barcelona, he started off in fourth place.
Last time out, Valentin Perrone narrowly missed out on his first Grand Prix victory as he finished in second at Balaton Park. The Argentine has continued his strong form and started this weekend in fifth place.
Moto3 rookie, Guido Pini, has had an inconsistent rookie season but has started the Catalan Grand Prix in a good way with a sixth place in Free Practice One.
Joel Kelso has gone missing over the last few Grands Prix as he has not challenged at the front. But the Australian continued to feature in the top ten in Catalunya with a seventh place in Free Practice One.
The second Honda rider inside the top ten in the opening Moto3 session was the Leopard Racing rider, David Almansa, who started his weekend in eighth place.
Jacob Roulstone was the third Red Bull KTM rider inside the top ten at the end of Free Practice One as he ended up in ninth place for Tech3.
Completing the top ten was the CFMoto Aspar Team rider, Maximo Quiles. However, the rookie suffered a big crash and missed the end of the opening Practice session.
