David Munoz started his weekend in Motegi at the top of the Moto3 timesheets at the Japanese Grand Prix.
The MotoGP flyaways get underway this weekend as the Grand Prix paddock arrives in Japan, and it was David Munoz, who topped the timesheets on Friday afternoon in the Moto3 Practice session at Motegi.
The Moto3 World Championship leader, Jose Antonio Rueda, started his weekend in second place on the timesheets for the Red Bull KTM Ajo squad.
After a trip to the medical centre, Ryusei Yamanaka returned to the track in the afternoon and the Japanese rider started his home Grand Prix in third place in the afternoon Practice session.
Angel Piqueras rounded out a third and fourth finish for the FRINSA - MT Helmets - MSi squad on Friday afternoon, with the Spaniard ending the day in fourth place.
The top Honda rider on Friday afternoon was the Leopard Racing rider, David Almansa. The Spaniard was in fifth place on the timesheets and was the sole Honda rider inside the top five.
Outside of the top five was the Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider, Valentin Perrone. The Argentinian rider ended the opening day of the Japanese Grand Prix in sixth place on the timesheets.
Adrian Fernandez was the second Honda rider on the timesheets as he put his Leopard Racing machine into seventh place at the end of Day One at the Twin Ring Motegi.
Australian rider, Joel Kelso, found his way into the top ten asd he ended the day in eighth place on the LEVELUP - MTA KTM.
Taiyo Furusato started his home Grand Prix in ninth place for the Honda Team Asia squad and has secured a place in Q2 on Saturday.
Completing the top ten was the Moto3 rookie, Guido Pini, who was in tenth place for the Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP squad.
