Gold & Goose

A brief rain shower over the Twin Ring Motegi shook up the order in the Japanese Grand Prix, but David Munoz controlled the race.

David Munoz returned to the top step of the Moto3 podium for the third time this season as he dominated proceedings in the Japanese Grand Prix. The Spaniard benefited from a brief rain shower around the Twin Ring Motegi and ended the race with a 1.618-second advantage.

The Moto3 World Champion, Jose Antonio Rueda, dropped back to tenth place when the rain started to fall, but as the rain faded away, the Spaniard fought back through the field to a second-place finish.

Moto3 rookie, Maximo Quiles, secured his eighth podium finish of the season with a third-place finish for the CFMoto Aspar Team.

Valentin Perrone missed out on his third Moto3 podium of his rookie season; the Argentinian rider was beaten by Quiles on the last lap and crossed the line in fourth place.

The top Honda rider at the Japanese Grand Prix was the Leopard Racing rider, Adrian Fernandez. After a difficult run in the middle of the season, the Spaniard has featured inside the top ten in the last six races.

Japanese rider, Ryusei Yamanaka, missed out on a top five finish at his home Grand Prix, but secured his best finish since the Austrian Grand Prix with a sixth place finish at Motegi.

Moto3 rookie, Guido Pini, has been riding a wave of good form in recent weeks as the Italian has finished inside the top ten in the last three races.

Joel Kelso looked set to be fighting at the front after qualifying on the front row of the grid. However, the Australian dropped back through the order during the race and finished in eighth.

Luca Lunetta returned to the top ten for the first time since suffering injuries at the Dutch TT. The Italian rider had not been in the top ten since Aragon, but was ninth in the Japanese Grand Prix.

Completing the top ten was the Moto3 veteran, Dennis Foggia, on the CFMoto Aspar Team KTM.
