Moto3 Portugal, Practice Results | David Almansa led the way on Friday at Portimao

David Almansa topped the Moto3 timesheets in the Friday afternoon Practice session at the Portuguese Grand Prix.

The Friday afternoon Practice session saw David Almansa top the timesheets on the Leopard Racing Honda. After inheriting a podium at the Malaysian Grand Prix, he led the Moto3 field by 0.135 seconds at Portimao.

Taiyo Furusato took his first Grand Prix victory last time out at the Malaysian Grand Prix, but had an average morning at Portimao. The Japanese rider ended the day in second place for Honda Team Asia.

The CFMoto Aspar Team had both riders inside the top five at the end of the opening day at Portimao, as Maximo Quiles was in third and Dennis Foggia was in fourth.

The second Leopard Racing rider, Adrian Fernandez, was inside the top five on Friday afternoon, but was 0.308 seconds behind his teammate.

After missing out on the top ten on Friday morning, Luca Lunetta ended the day in sixth place in the Practice session at the Portuguese Grand Prix.

Joel Kelso had a positive morning at the Portuguese Grand Prix as he ended the session in second place, even though he improved his time in the afternoon, he ended the day in seventh.

Angel Piqueras is in the fight for second place in the Championship with Quiles, but has been behind the rookie in both sessions on Friday.

Red Bull KTM ended the session with two riders on Friday afternoon. Alvaro Carpe was in ninth place on Friday afternoon for the Ajo squad, and Valentin Perrone was in tenth place for Tech3.

British rider Scott Ogden secured a spot in Q2 on Saturday with an 11th place on Friday afternoon, and Casey O'Gorman will also be in Q2 after ending the opening day in 13th.
