Monster Yamaha's Bradley Smith is still struggling with a full load of fuel at the beginning of MotoGP races and is having to run with a 'best compromise' as no total solution has yet been forthcoming.
Smith is suffering the same problem as team-mate Cal Crutchlow had before he used the factory fuel tank and seat unit but then it caused him problems at the end of the race instead of the beginning.
The Oxfordshire rider managed to finish in front of the Ducatis at Aragon but was disappointed to be 31 seconds behind winner Marc Marquez.
"I would like to have been closer. Not in terms of the result but the gap. We are still struggling when we get the bike in the ball park of beating the Ducatis, we are struggling with full fuel, it seems to be our biggest problem," said Smith.
"You can't ride the bike like it needs to be ridden, which is to carry that corner speed just because you feel that front load is hanging on the front tyre and it is trying to close. I wish it was an easy fix and we have tried so many things. If you do this, it improves it but then you lose here, if you do that, then you lose there. This is the best compromise we have come up with."
