Jorge Lorenzo’s time at Ducati continues on a downward path as he struggled with ‘a lot of problems’ at the Austin MotoGP round, claiming just five points for 11th place on the factory Ducati.
It wasn’t a great weekend for the team all round even though Andrea Dovizioso re-claimed the championship lead as they were comprehensibely outpaced by Honda and Yamaha.
Lorenzo opted to use the full aero package in Texas but couldn’t make it work and was beaten not only by Dovizioso but also by satellite riders Tito Rabat and Jack Miller, who later revealed he was riding with a broken collarbone and torn rotator cuff.
“A lot of problems. Firstly at the beginning, at the start, difficult to start with the new bike a little bit more than last year. Probably we didn’t choose the right tyre on the rear, it was very hard and it was spinning so much and moving so much,” said Lorenzo, speaking at the track.
“It’s a very physical track and with the new bike I believe that I struggle more physically, especially in the braking. We have to find a solution for the future. So very sad race, disappointed so far back, so far from the top guys.
“But you know, I know what I did in the past and what I can do in the future, so just keep moving, keep working, and some day the satisfaction will arrive.”
