Britain’s Cal Crutchlow said he needs more MotoGP test time with the outgoing Bridgestone tyres in order to solve of the recurring problems he is having and says today’s Michelin test at Brno will be of no use at all.
Crutchlow crashed out of yesterday’s race with seven laps to go losing the front at turn 11, saying he had no grip at the front or rear.
“We never had a good setting all weekend. I got a bad start, as usual, and after that I thought that I could follow Dani Pedrosa through the field but I think that we chose the wrong rear tyre, with the hard, and with the medium I think that we could have been able to push harder in the early laps,” said Crutchlow, speaking at Brno.
“I was stuck behind a few riders and it seemed that when Dani passed a rider I couldn’t get past them immediately and go with him. I had no grip front or rear. I went into the corner just as I had done the previous lap and lost the front. We need to go to the next race and find a solution.
“The biggest problem is that we need testing and the Michelin test doesn’t help us at all. We need to be able to ride the bike without the pressures of a race weekend where we can try some things and see what works.
“The last Bridgestone test at Catalunya was wet and I did five laps before it rained. At Jerez we had a good day but at the moment we’re in a bad situation but this is racing.”
