Monster Yamaha's Bradley Smith says he has made a good step forward in terms of setup on day one of free practice at the Brno MotoGP round with a tweak to the forks enabling him to chase team-mate Cal Crtuchlow.
The Oxfordshire youngster finished the day in seventh place, half a second behind his squad leader, and reckons the changes made today should help with his early race problems trying to brake and turn on a full fuel load.
"Being seventh on the first day here was good. I'm definitely feeling at home already on this track. I've been pole position here before so it is definitely a track that I seem to ride well at," said Smith, speaking at Brno.
"We tried a different fork setting which was positive in some areas but you can't make a setting in 32 laps so we will continue to progress that tomorrow. We still need to work on braking stability, I feel, but a good step forward from what we had and should help on full fuel load which is the area we are trying to improve at the moment."
