Former MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez has targeted a minimum of two more wins this season in order to put himself front and centre for a third premier class world title.
Marquez has adopted a new strategy for this season and is no longer a rostrum-or-hospital rider. Instead, he has taken wins where he could and settled for points where he can’t, and that was demonsrated in Austria where he wasn’t able to live with the Yamahas or Ducatis.
“We couldn’t fight for the podium in the race but now we are in Brno it looks like it will be better for us. It was an important fifth place because Lorenzo is the rival that is closer to us and he only took five points more than us and Valentino only two, so I am happy because it was a circuit where we could lose many points,” said Marquez, speaking at the track this evening.
“Here we will try to fight for the podium and the victory and if it is impossible to win, then we will try to lose not many points to both Yamaha riders. Of course the position will be important but in the end you must be consistent on the podium. I know that in my case if I want to win the championship I need to win a minimum of two races more because both Yamaha riders are pushing.”
