Fiat Yamaha's Valentino Rossi reckons that re-starting today's Indy MotoGP race in such treacherous conditions would have been like playing Russian Roulette.
The 2008 MotoGP world champion elect now has a 87-point advantage over Casey Stoner but it could all have been so different if the flag-to-flag rule had been enforced to the letter.
Rossi and Stoner had a pitlane conversation with Dorna boss Carmelo Ezpeleta and IRTA chief Mike Trimby just minutes before the race was called a result.
The Doctor said: "I think when I see the red flag, no way to restart, especially because the wind remain very strong. So the condition was very bad. And restart for eight laps all together with this condition is like when you put one bullet in the gun and you make, "trrrrr," like this, and you try, you know. It was dangerous; I think it was the right decision."
