Reigning MotoGP king Marc Marquez is on his way back to Jerez just days after breaking his upper arm in a big crash in the season opener.
The Repsol Honda squad confirmed early this morning that ‘after a successful operation on Tuesday, Marc Marquez is heading back to Jerez’ but didn’t give any further details.
He could be going back to carry out corporate and sponsor obligations but as the paddock is virtually closed off to the public, it is more likely he is going to try and ride.
It will be a damage limitation exercise for the Spaniard as he will not want Fabio Quartararo to get 50 points clear in a compressed season should the Petronas rider make it a double win.
Marquez will have to undergo a fitness test today - which he will pass because Carmelo Ezpeleta will want him to - and then take it from there.
He can delay participation in the action until just before qualifying in order to give his arm another day to heal.
