Factory Yamaha's Valentino Rossi has said conserving tyres past the middle of tomorrow's MotoGP round at Jerez will be key to a good performance due to high track temperatures at the Spanish track.
Rossi believes most of his competitors will use Bridgestone's softer compound tyre after finding grip difficult to come by with the harder option, but he said that making it last to the end of the race will prove tough.
"Everybody, I think, will start with the softer tyre and at the beginning will be a very high pace but after it will be important to understand the rhythm in the second part of the race because is very difficult to control the tyre after some laps when it become very greasy," said Rossi, speaking at Jerez.
"If the temperature is like today and the race is very long, we are 27 laps, it will be very important to work on the balance and the rear tyre to be fast but especially doesn't use too much the rear tyre so we keep a good rhythm to the end."
