MOTOGP MISANO: NEWS, GOSSIP AND STUFF

Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa has demanded the factory team dump Michelin as its tyre supplier for next year if MotoGP doesn't go to a one-make tyre for 2009. Honda ignored the Spaniard and team-mate Nicky Hayden's pleas to switch to Bridgestone at the end of last season but are now probably thinking: "D'oh..."

HRC boss Masumi Hamane has admitted he personally tried to  boycott the Czech GP in Brno. He said that it wasn't on safety grounds but he wanted a happy rider and a happy crowd. And got neither, as it turned out.
Valentino Rossi and other leading riders have said the best way to cut corners speeds to improve safety is to go back to the 990cc bikes of two years ago. And to have no electronic aids on the bikes so rider throttle control is responsible for what happens on the way into, through and out of corners.
Rizla Suzuki's team boss Paul Denning has played down rumours that he is in talks with Andrea Dovizioso for a 2009 ride. So there.

Tech 3 Yamaha's Colin Edwards reckons that Michelin are much too far behind  to even think about catching Bridgestone and should concentrate on simply being able to compete.

Jorge Lorenzo has vowed not to let the disappointing results from Brno get him down. His 10th place really put a strain on the Spaniard's fight for fourth in the MotoGP championship race.

However, technical types in the paddock have said it would be very difficult to police a limit on electronics because of all the different systems that are used by the teams. It would seem a blanket ban is the only answer then, Carmelo...

Anglo-American rider John Hopkins has welcomed Marco Melandri's move to Kawasaki for 2009. Hopper said the Italian would give him some serious competition and help him develop new technology.

Loris Capirossi will race a new chassis at Misano which will also co-incide with him signing a contract with Rizla Suzuki for 2009. It is not yet known, however, if current team-mate Chris Vermeulen is also staying in baby blue.
If Nicky Hayden has signed for Ducati in 2009, you can bet your last quid we won't find out officially this weekend. Honda have it written into their rider's contracts that even if they are leaving the Mighty H, no-one can officially say so until the Japanese manufacturer is good and ready.
